Liberty to Love: A Serious Serial Sighting Ceres

Ceres is the 4th in a series on asteroids.  Traditionally viewed as minor and feminine, they highlight issues that can be very important in of personal lives.

These include:
HygeiaVestaJuno & Pallas Athena

Ceres was a roman godess of agriculture and grain.  In Greece she was Demeter, mother of Persephone, in Roman her daughter is "Liberta", which is the origin of the word Liberty.  Persephone was a godess of spring and fertility, and when Pluto (Hades) kidnpas her as his wife to the underworld (for there is nothing that power-hungry Pluto could be so enticed to have, like that which by definition can not be held)>  Ceres wanders the earth distraught and unconsolable searching for her daughter- things go crazy, the grain doesn't grow- its a mess, finally she finds her deep in Pluto's realm, stands head to head with Pluto, and GET THIS... She gets a concession!  Out of Pluto? you say.  Yes out of Pluto!  One half the year Liberda (Persephone) resides with her mother and all is warm and fertile, and the second half she dwells with Pluto, in the land is cold and barren.
Ceres is also a rather large object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.  In fact astronomer's have just recently placed her in the category of minor Planets (just like Pluto) and although it makes little difference from an astrologer's point of view, now you have somthing to bring up at the next cocktail party... and that is what makes it all worthwhile.
At any rate, as with so many objects, its mythological story gives us key insight to the nature of the object.  Ceres, the mother of grain care-takes her children, and the more they grow, the further away they (the grain) gets.  Ceres over-comes Pluto (power conflicts) she does this by surrendering half the year.  She IS the mother of liberty and the great nurturor.
That said it is a mistake to over-limit her scope of influence.  While she certainly has influence over parenting style, the theme of nurture and release is a huge one that applies to anything from our personal projects, to our love relationships.
In all these things it is important to understand the relationshipe between nurturing and letting go.  Here's the secret: to nurture properly you always have to love while letting go!  For deep inside the message of Ceres is the truth that love cannot exist outside of freedom, and freedom is intollerable without love.

I let go of my need to control while embracing care and love, and as I allow freedom, love grows, and as Love grows so too does Freedom become more fulfilling.
